5 compelling reasons for Setting the Default to Open Access to be communicated via a daily blog across Monday to Friday, supported by series of 5 posters distributed across campus (Day 1 poster is illustrated here).  The campaign includes a week-long online poll to the question "Would you like to make your work open access?".  We will use the poll results together with the blog content and comments to start faculty-based discussions on the merit of developing a university stance on OA.See More

UWC Open Access Week activities

Dear OA Workers and friendsSome good news:1.  UWC Library will be recruiting nationally for a new position: Head: Repository and Digital Scholarship Services.  Really looking forward to opening a new chapter for Openness at UWC with a dedicated staff member.  The ad should appear in Sunday Times before end of October - maybe coincide with OA Week! 2.  This year, we're putting our money where our mouth is with an opportunity for UWC researchers.  See the attached file (hope it loads).…See More

Launch of the Research Repository at the University of the Western Cape at Library Auditorium

October 22, 2010 from 12pm to 2pm
The formal programme features a high profile researcher who chairs the Committee on Scholarly Publishing in South Africa, some presentations about Open Access and reform of scholarly communication system, a theatrical sketch performed by faculty librarians, and a handover of OA tshirts to early adoptors and supporters of the Repository. The last item will be the signing of the Service Level Agreement with the IT department.We are preparing two posters and a brochure for campus distribution.See More
