More and more institutions are faced with the problem of shrinking space and shrinking budgets, updating their resources is a drudgery between priorities, OA offers a solution to ensuring access to quality information and content to support learning , research and teaching in a dynamic learning environment. Quality management systems can be applied to accessibility and usability tenets to improve research and assignment standards.
Librarians and informatics are well aware of the ensuring challenges and hence the need to sensititisize end users of the benefits of OA for academic excellence. Information sharing is a very rich avenue to improve not only knowledge but improved research. making research results available in real time enhances development and innovative and critical thinking. One can no longer assume issues without checking facts, critiquing and contributing to change. OA supports change mangement in a learning organization. it helps innovative utilization of technology in more relevant ways that is happenning today.
By promoting the benefits of OA, it helps to identify an organizations intellectual wealth and dissemination of research finding in a way that is more open for application or for information sake. an informed populace is one that keeps up to date with development and innovative ideas that contribute to national development.
