Discussion "Siapa yang Memiliki Pengetahuan Kita?" (Who Owns Our Knowledge?) explores the unequal landscape of scientific publishing and the question of who truly controls access to knowledge. As Indonesia stands at a turning point in reforming its research and publishing ecosystem, the discussion highlights the tension between community-driven initiatives and the dominance of commercial models based on subscriptions and article processing charges (APCs).
Drawing on global data from the ESAC Transformative Agreement Registry, this session examines how countries negotiate transformative publishing models and how approaches such as Diamond Open Access and Subscribe-to-Open (S2O) are emerging as fairer, community-centered alternatives.
The conversation invites participants to reflect on Indonesia’s path toward a more transparent, sustainable, and independent knowledge system—one where open access is not merely about availability, but about ownership, accountability, and epistemic justice.
The discussion will be conducted in Indonesian (Bahasa).
