Open Science and Open Data in biomedical research / Scienza Aperta e Dati Aperti nella ricerca biomedica
During the International Open Access Week 2022, the Faculty of Law of the University of Trento, within the framework of the university's strategic plan and in collaboration with the Italian Association for the Promotion of Open Science (AISA), organises an international conference dedicated to the study of the openness of scientific research data with reference to biomedical data in the university environment. Biomedical scientific research data are subject to two opposing forces: private appropriation on the one hand, and openness (Open Science) on the other. The national and supranational legal framework on scientific research data is fragmented and rapidly changing. The legal areas affecting the scientific research data regime are many and include intellectual property, privacy and personal data protection, openness of data in the public sector, and contract law. The presentations of the speakers aim to outline the formal regulatory framework, but also to explore the informal practices and norms of scientific communities, with a focus on some regulatory models of openness of biomedical data, and thus to suggest the direction where the management of university biomedical research data will develop.
